I have been experiencing this issue since I bought my ZBook. It happens infrequently but on some days multiple times. My mouse pointer dances around the screen all over the place randomly clicking on one thing or another. It’s like my computer has gone haywire or is being controlled by a ghost. The arrow pointer seems to go away and I can sort of see the wavy area of the screen it’s clicking on. It just goes on forever I cannot stop it without powering down. It only seems to happen in Excel. Not any specific file. I’m working in the file and bang, the mouse goes crazy. Until now I haven’t been able to reproduce it. Yesterday I was working in an Excel file and the problem occurred right at the moment when I selected an entire Excel table (with about 800 rows of data) and pasted the table in a new sheet. I tried this over and over and every time, the mouse issue happened. So at least I can reproduce the problem at will. There’s nothing special or complicated about the Excel table. I have performed this exact task with the same file on other computers and there’s no issue. So there's nothing in that file that's causing the problem.

I have been troubleshooting this issue for almost 2 years. I’ve tried everything:

  • Researched the problem and discovered that others have had similar issues. I’ve tried all the proposed remedies but none fix the problem.
  • Changed the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S Bluetooth mouse and even used one with its own USB transceiver
  • Cleaned the mouse sensor
  • Disconnected the mouse completely and used the trackpad
  • Tried the different mice and disabled the trackpad
  • Changed various mouse settings
  • Deleted the mouse driver and reinstalled it
  • Uninstalled the Logitech mouse software
  • Ran full scans for viruses, trojans
  • Uninstalled MS Office completely and reinstalled (followed procedure to completely uninstall)
  • Performed a Windows 11 repair

None of this made any difference and the problem persists. I’m at the point where the only option is a full reset of the machine. But before I do that, I figured I’d ask to see
