My computer is not turning on. The charger light is blinking orange and white when I plug it in. I took it to the a repairman he took the laptop apart and he didn’t see the problem either. My screen is not cracked. It just won’t turn on.

Hi @Kylah06

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details—and I’m truly sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s incredibly frustrating when a laptop that should be ready to go simply refuses to power on, especially after you've already taken the time to consult a technician.

The blinking orange and white charger light is a meaningful signal—it typically points to a power delivery or battery communication issue, and it’s often recoverable with the right steps.

Let’s walk through a few targeted actions that may help bring your HP Envy x360 back to life:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears any residual charge or static buildup that may be preventing the system from initializing.

  • Disconnect the charger and remove any connected devices (USB, SD card, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Wait another 30 seconds, then reconnect the charger and press the power button normally.

If the laptop still doesn’t respond, try this variation:

  • Unplug the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button.
  • While holding it, plug the charger back in.
  • Continue holding for 7 seconds, then release and press the power button once.

2. Check for Display Wake Conditions

Sometimes the system powers on but the screen remains blank due to sleep mode or display misrouting.

  • Open the lid to a 45-degree angle.
  • Press the power button and listen for fan noise or keyboard backlight.
  • Connect to an external monitor via HDMI to check for video output.

3. Inspect Battery and Charger Behavior

The alternating orange and white light may indicate:

  • A deeply discharged battery that needs time to recover.
  • A charger or charging circuit issue.

Try leaving the laptop plugged in for at least 30 minutes uninterrupted, then attempt to power it on again.

If possible, test with a different compatible HP charger to rule out adapter failure.

4. Update or Recover BIOS (if accessible)

If the system shows any signs of life (blinking caps lock, fan spin), you may be able to initiate a BIOS recovery.

HP provides a detailed guide for this process:
Recovering the BIOS on HP Notebooks

If none of these steps restore power, the issue may lie with:

  • A failed power IC or motherboard component.
  • A battery communication fault that prevents boot even on AC power.

You’ve already taken thoughtful steps, and I’m sorry this has dragged on without resolution.

If you’d like help identifying your exact model variant or checking for service eligibility, I’d be glad to assist further. Let’s keep pushing for a solution that gets your system back in action.
