Hi @chanduk773,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Operating System!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To prevent your HP laptop from automatically updating to Windows 11, follow these steps:

1. Pause Windows Updates (Temporary Solution)

If you want to delay the update for a short time:

  1. Open SettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows Update.
  2. Click Pause updates for 7 days (you can do this multiple times to extend the pause).

2. Use Group Policy Editor (Permanent Solution for Windows 10 Pro)

If you have Windows 10 Pro, you can block Windows 11 updates using Group Policy:

  1. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:
Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsWindows UpdateWindows Update for Business.
  3. Double-click "Select the target Feature Update version".
  4. Select Enabled, and under Target Version for Feature Updates, enter 10.
  5. Click Apply and OK.

3. Block Windows 11 Update in Registry (For Windows 10 Home)

If you have Windows 10 Home, you need to edit the registry:

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
  3. Right-click WindowsUpdate, select New → DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it TargetReleaseVersion and set its value to 1.
  4. Right-click WindowsUpdate, select New → String Value, name it TargetReleaseVersionInfo, and set its value to 10.
  5. Restart your computer.

4. Disable Windows 11 Update using Registry (Alternative Method)

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup
  3. Right-click on MoSetup, select New → DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU, and set its value to 0.
  4. Restart your PC.

5. Uninstall Windows 11 (If It Has Already Installed)

If Windows 11 has already installed, you have 10 days to revert to Windows 10:

  1. Open SettingsUpdate & SecurityRecovery.
  2. Under Go back to the previous version of Windows 10, click Get started.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

After following these steps, Windows 11 should no longer install automatically on your HP laptop. Let me know if you need further help! 😊
