@asankar22, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

There are several reasons why your HP Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop might be experiencing slow performance:

Background Applications: Running too many applications in the background can slow down your laptop. Check the Task Manager to see what's running and close unnecessary applications.

Disk Space: Lack of disk space can degrade system performance. Ensure that you have enough space on your hard drive and consider removing unused files or programs.

Startup Programs: Programs that start automatically with your computer can consume resources and slow down your system. You can manage your startup applications via the Task Manager under the "Startup" tab in Windows.

Malware/Viruses: Malware or viruses can significantly affect system performance. Run a virus scan with a reliable antivirus software to check for and remove any threats.

Heat Management: Overheating can also slow down your computer. Ensure your laptop is not overheating by checking if the vents and fans are clean and working properly. Make sure you're using your laptop on a hard surface to allow for proper ventilation.

Hardware Limitations: The Presario CQ62 might be limited by aging hardware. Consider upgrading components like RAM if possible, for better performance.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
