Your machine has one of the following wifi adapter

  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo part # 806723-005
  • Realtek RTL8188EE-VJ 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter part #  857334-855
  • Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter  part # 855106-855
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter part # 863934-855

Please check Device Manager to see what is on your machine.  Probably your machine has one of two middle adapters which  ONLY support 2.4GHz that why your machine can't see 5GHz networks.

Options

1. Replace existing adapter with one of other two or others (note: your machine only has ONE antenna).

2. Using USB wifi adapter (cheap and no need to open the machine) such as

             https://www.asus.com/au/networking-iot-servers/adapters/all-series/usb-ac53-nano/

3. Allow your router to broadcast dual bands.

Regards.
