@EPPL, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that your HP OmniBook laptop battery is not providing sufficient backup. Let’s go through a few steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:
Perform Battery Health Check
HP provides a built-in tool to check battery condition.
- Press Esc repeatedly while turning on the laptop to open the Startup Menu.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Power > Battery.
- Run the Battery Check and note the results.
Alternatively, you can use HP Support Assistant:
- Download or open HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Go to Battery Check under the Troubleshooting and Fixes section.
Calibrate the Battery
If the battery check shows “Calibrate,” follow these steps:
- Charge the battery to 100%.
- Disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
- Recharge to 100% without interruption.
This helps the system accurately estimate battery capacity.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or power drivers can affect battery performance.
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your HP laptop model number.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, Chipset, and Power Management drivers.
Reset Power Settings
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select Restore default settings for this plan.
- You can also create a new power plan optimized for battery life.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
