Hi @JACKSON98,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how inconvenient it feels when your wireless mouse just refuses to work, especially when you’re ready to get things done and the cursor won’t budge. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step so you can feel that smooth glide across the screen again.

Recommended Troubleshooting for Wireless Mouse

1. Check the Basics

  • Power: Make sure the mouse has fresh batteries or is fully charged.
  • Receiver: If it’s a USB dongle, ensure it’s firmly plugged into your HP PC.
  • Distance: Keep the mouse within 1 meter of the receiver to avoid interference from metal objects or other wireless devices.

2. Re-Pair or Reconnect

  • If it’s a Bluetooth mouse
    • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Add Device.
    • Select your mouse and pair it again.
  • If it uses a USB receiver, unplug and reinsert the dongle, then restart your PC.

3. Update Drivers

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your mouse → Update driver.
  • Or download the latest drivers from HP:

4. Check Power Management Settings

  • In Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click each USB Root HubProperties → Power Management.
  • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

5. Test on Another Device

  • If the mouse works on another PC, the issue is with your HP PC settings.
  • If it doesn’t, the mouse may need replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
