HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cw0000 IDS Base Model

When playing music from ITunes, for some reason when my laptop goes to sleep, the music stops.  It never did this before.  I've checked everything I can think of and restarted my laptop as well.  Any thoughts?

Hi @YRealDeal,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand You’re using an HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cw0000 IDS Base Model, and when playing music through iTunes, your laptop puts itself to sleep — and the music stops. Sorry to hear about the issue.

Please try the steps shared below.

1️. Adjust Sleep Settings

Let’s first make sure your laptop isn’t going to sleep too soon while music is playing:

  • Click the Start Menu and select Settings.
  • Go to System > Power & Battery.
  • Under Screen and sleep, adjust the On battery power, put my device to sleep after and when plugged in, put my device to sleep after settings to Never (or a much longer time).
  • Close the settings window.

2️. Prevent Hard Drive Sleep

Your music might stop if the hard drive powers down:

  • Type Edit power plan in the Start search and open it.
  • Click Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand the Hard disk > Turn off the hard disk after.
  • Set both On battery and plugged in to Never.
  • Click Apply, then OK.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
