Hello. My chromebook is no longer under warranty, but I just got it and I am unable to get it to enter developer mode. When I input the commands to do it, nothing happens. I have no idea how to fix this. Please help. Google is not helping. I am trying to run a windows program that is not available on ChromeOS.

I understand how frustrating that must be, especially when you’ve just received the Chromebook and it’s not doing what you expect.

First, regarding the warranty and registration details:

Since the product shows as out of warranty but you recently purchased it, please share the following via private message so we can review and update the warranty information if applicable:

A copy of the purchase invoice (clearly showing date of purchase)

The serial number mentioned on the invoice

A clear photo of the serial number label on the Chromebook itself

Once we have those details, we can check and assist further.

I am very sorry but I am completely unfamiliar with this whole site. I don't have a purchase invoice. I was given the laptop. I did not buy it.  If you send me a private message, I can reply to that but I am not sure how to send you a message. I can give you the serial number and all the other information you requested.

Thank you for getting back to us, and no worries at all, I completely understand that the community site can be a bit confusing at first.

Regarding the warranty update, it can only be processed if the purchase invoice is available. Since the device was given to you and the invoice is not available, we would not be able to update the warranty information.

Also, concerning Developer Mode, HP does not provide access to Developer Mode for public use. However, if you are experiencing any issues with your Chromebook, I would definitely be happy to help you troubleshoot the problem and see if we can find an alternative solution.

Please feel free to share more details about the issue you are facing, and I’ll do my best to assist you.
