HP All-in-One PC 22-dd0000a (7WY45AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My webcam stopped working so I did an online search to find a solution.  Found that I should uninstall the app and restart.  This did not fix the problem and I am unable to find any other fixes.  I just want to reinstall the camera.

@annagram46, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand your webcam stopped working and uninstalling the app didn’t help. Let’s walk through the steps to reinstall and restore the camera functionality on your HP All-in-One PC.

Check Device Manager

Let’s first see if Windows still detects the camera hardware.

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  3. If you see your camera listed (e.g., HP TrueVision HD), right-click it and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device (if available), then click Uninstall.
  5. Restart your PC. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Scan for Hardware Changes

If the camera doesn’t reappear:

  1. In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  2. If the camera shows up, Windows has reinstalled it.

Use HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can detect missing drivers and reinstall them.

  1. Open the app and go to Devices > My PC > Updates.
  2. Install any available driver updates, especially under Driver – Camera or Driver – Imaging.

Install Camera Driver Manually (if needed)

If the camera still doesn’t work, try installing the driver manually:

  1. Select Windows 11 as your OS.
  2. Download and install the Camera Driver listed under Driver – Imaging.

Check Privacy Settings

Sometimes, Windows blocks camera access:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Make sure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned ON.

Final Tip

If none of the above works, try running the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Camera troubleshooter.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!

Thank you so much Max3A.  I tried all the fixes you listed, but to no avail.  I am unable to find the camera listed in any of my files and I did try to install it manually but that did not work.

@annagram46, Thanks for the update, and I’m sorry to hear the issue persists. Since the camera is not showing up in Device Manager and manual driver installation didn’t help, it’s likely a hardware detection issue or a BIOS-level configuration problem. Let’s go a bit deeper with the next set of steps.

Check Hidden Devices in Device Manager

Sometimes the camera is hidden:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Look again under Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
  4. If you see a greyed-out camera, right-click and choose Uninstall, then restart.

Enable Camera in BIOS

Some HP All-in-Ones allow disabling the webcam in BIOS.

  1. Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  2. Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  3. Look under Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  4. Ensure Integrated Camera is Enabled.
  5. Press F10 to save and exit.

Run HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics

Let’s check if the camera is physically detected:

  1. Turn off the PC.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Choose Component Tests > Webcam.
  4. If the Webcam test is missing, the system is not detecting the camera hardware.

Perform a Power Reset

This can help reinitialize hardware detection:

  1. Shut down the PC.
  2. Unplug the power cable.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Plug the power back in and restart.

Windows Optional Updates

Sometimes camera drivers are delivered via Windows Update:

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
  2. Check under Driver updates for any Imaging or Camera drivers.

If the Camera Still Doesn’t Show Up

If the camera is not detected in BIOS or UEFI diagnostics, it may be:

  • Disconnected internally (common in AIOs after servicing or drops).
  • Hardware failure of the webcam module.

In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
