Hi @Danny197650

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — before jumping into steps, let’s narrow things down so I can give you the most precise guidance. “Smart charging” can mean different things depending on the brand, model, and operating system, and the way to disable it varies.

To isolate the issue, I’d like to clarify a few details:

  • Device type: Are we talking about a laptop, desktop, or an all‑in‑one PC?
  • Brand/model: Which manufacturer and model is your PC? (For example, HP Spectre x360, Lenovo ThinkPad, ASUS ROG, etc.)
  • Operating system: Are you running Windows, macOS, Linux, or ChromeOS?
  • Software layer: Do you see “Smart Charging” inside a vendor utility (like HP Support Assistant, Lenovo Vantage, Dell Power Manager), or is it a BIOS/UEFI setting?
  • Symptoms/goal: What makes you want to turn it off — is it limiting battery charge to 80%, slowing charging speed, or something else?

Once I know these specifics, I can guide you to the exact method for disabling or adjusting smart charging on your system. Could you share those details?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
