Hi @DR32,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to add a SATA 3 SSD drive to your Omnidesk system and are looking for clear steps on how to connect it with the proper cable. Let’s go through the process step by step.

Check for Available SATA Port

Open your Omnidesk system case and locate the motherboard.

Look for unused SATA ports (small L‑shaped connectors).

Identify Power Supply Connector

Your SSD needs both data and power.

Find an unused SATA power connector from the power supply (flat, wider connector).

Mount the SSD

Place the SSD into a 2.5‑inch drive bay or use an adapter bracket if only 3.5‑inch bays are available.

Secure it with screws or clips so it doesn’t move.

Connect the SATA Data Cable

Plug one end of the SATA 3 data cable into the SSD.

Connect the other end to an available SATA port on the motherboard.

Connect the SATA Power Cable

Attach the SATA power connector from the power supply to the SSD.

Ensure it is firmly seated.

Close the Case and Power On

Reassemble the case and power on the system.

The SSD should be detected automatically by BIOS/UEFI.

Initialize the Drive in OS

In Windows: open Disk Management, initialize the SSD, and create a new volume.

In macOS/Linux: use Disk Utility or fdisk/gparted to format and mount the drive.

I hope this helps.
