@JPA69, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Color Printing Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer is only printing photos in black and white and not in color, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Printer Settings

  1. Verify Color Settings:
    • Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
    • Click on the Color tab.
    • Ensure that the Print in grayscale option is not selected.
    • Adjust settings to Color if necessary.

Verify Cartridge Installation

  1. Check Print Cartridges:
    • Ensure that both the black and tri-color (or separate color) cartridges are properly installed.
    • If using a printer with specific cartridges for black and white printing, such as a gray photo print cartridge, remove it if you intend to print in color.

Use the Correct Paper Type and Settings

  1. Paper Settings:
    • Verify that you have selected the appropriate paper type in the printer settings.
    • Adjust the paper settings to match the photo paper type you are using.

Use HP Digital Photography Options

  1. Enhance Digital Photos:
    • Use options like SmartFocus, Sharpness, and Smoothing to improve image quality.
    • Ensure any filters or effects set to black and white are turned off.

Check Color Management

  1. Color Management Settings:
    • Verify the setting in the Color management drop-down list (ColorSmart/sRGB, AdobeRGB, Managed by application).

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
