critical update needed to use hp display control

  • Which HP product are you using HP Display Control with (e.g., Spectre x360, Envy, Omen monitor)?
  • Is it a laptop or an external display?

Operating system:

  • Which version of Windows is currently installed (e.g., Windows 11 23H2, Windows 10 22H2)?
  • Have there been any recent Windows updates?

HP Display Control version:

  • Do you know which version is currently installed?
  • Did the issue start after a recent update or reinstall?

Symptoms and error:

  • What exactly happens when you try to launch or use HP Display Control?
  • Are you seeing a specific error message like “Critical update required” or something else?

Other HP software:

  • Do you have HP Command Center, OMEN Gaming Hub, or HP Support Assistant installed?

I am getting a pop up about this as well. Cannot tell if it's legitimate. When I go to the Hp support app on my desktop and check for updates there, there is nothing about this display control critical update, which makes me think it is not.
