On my new laptop, the insert time function " ctrl + shift + ; " is not working correctly. But it works fine (for the same program) on my old laptop. Can someone help me?

Hi @im14music

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The issue with the "Ctrl + Shift + ;" shortcut not working correctly on your new HP laptop could be due to differences in keyboard settings, drivers, or software configurations.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check Keyboard Layout and Input Method:

  • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Preferred Languages.
  • Ensure the input method matches your keyboard layout (e.g., US QWERTY).

2. Verify Shortcut Settings in the Program:

  • Open the program where the shortcut is used and check its settings.
  • Ensure the "Ctrl + Shift + ;" shortcut is correctly assigned and not overridden by another function.

3. Update Keyboard Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select it).
  • Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update Driver.
  • If the issue persists, visit the HP Support page for your laptop model and download the latest drivers.

4. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
  • System updates can resolve compatibility issues.

5. Test with an External Keyboard:

  • Connect an external USB keyboard and test the shortcut. If it works, the issue might be specific to your laptop's keyboard.

6. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters.
  • Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

7. Check Accessibility Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Ensure features like Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are turned off, as they can interfere with shortcuts.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
