Hi @Varunbh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

High CPU Usage:

  • Check if any application is consuming an unusually high amount of CPU resources. You can do this from the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Memory Usage:

  • Ensure you have enough RAM available. High memory usage by applications could slow down your system.

Disk Usage:

  • Check if your disk usage is at 100%. This can be due to background applications, indexing services, or disk fragmentation.

Background Processes:

  • Background applications and services can slow down the system. Check and manage startup programs from Task Manager.

Virus/Malware:

  • Malware and viruses can significantly impact performance. Run a full scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus solution.

Operating System Updates:

  • Ensure you have the latest updates from Windows Update. Sometimes lagging issues are resolved in patches provided by Microsoft.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), and check which applications or processes are consuming the most resources.

Update Drivers via HP Support Assistant: Ensure all drivers are up-to-date using the HP Support Assistant.

Run Antivirus Scan: Perform a full system scan using Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus program to ensure that your system is not infected.

Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs: Go to Task Manager → Startup tab and disable non-essential programs.

Perform Disk Cleanup: Use Disk Cleanup to free up space, and consider running a disk defragmentation.

Check for Windows Updates: Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update, and ensure your system is fully updated.

Use HP Performance Tune Up: Utilize HP’s performance tools to diagnose and optimize your laptop's performance.

I hope this helps.
