Hi @billbrown1952,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer regularly does not respond immediately to print commands, you may try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Printer Connection and Network

  1. Ensure Printer Connectivity: Check if the printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
  2. Restart Printer and Computer: Turn off both the printer and your computer. Wait for a minute, then turn them back on.
  3. Check Network Settings: Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct network and is not in offline mode.

Step 2: Clear Print Queue

  1. Access Print Queue: Go to your computer’s printer settings and locate the print queue.
  2. Cancel Pending Print Jobs: Cancel all pending print jobs to clear the queue.
  3. Restart Print Spooler Service:
    • On Windows: Open the Services app, find the Print Spooler service, and restart it.
    • On macOS: Reboot your computer to reset the spooler.

Step 3: Align and Clean Ink Cartridges

  1. Check Ink Cartridge Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges are not empty or refilled.
  2. Align Cartridges:
    • Load plain white paper into the input tray.
    • On the printer control panel, press the Setup button.
    • Select Tools, then choose Align Print Cartridge and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Clean Cartridges Using Automated Tool: Access the printer’s setup menu, select Tools, then Clean Print Cartridge.

Step 4: Check Paper and Print Settings

  1. Verify Paper Type: Ensure you are using the correct type of paper for your print job and it is loaded properly.
  2. Check Print Settings: Adjust the print settings to match the paper type and desired print quality.
    • Open HP Smart app, select Print Documents or Print Photos, and modify settings like Media Type and Quality.

Step 5: Printer Tray Adjustment

  1. Make Sure Photo Tray is Seated Correctly:
    • Ensure the printer is on a flat surface.
    • Check that photo tray guide tabs are correctly aligned with the main tray guides.
    • Reinstall the output tray properly and try printing.

Let me know how it goes.
