@Thelimester, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Power Supply Concerns for the HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
There could be several reasons why your HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cr0000 is requesting a more powerful power supply even though you are using the original one:
Battery Degradation: Over time, batteries can degrade and might not hold charge or operate efficiently, leading the system to believe it needs more power than what the original adapter can provide.
System Updates: If you've recently updated the BIOS or the operating system, the power requirements might have changed slightly, and the new software may not be as tolerant of lower power conditions.
Power Adapter Issues: Ensure your power adapter is functioning properly. Over time, adapters can wear out or become less efficient, leading to inadequate power supply.
Increased Demand: If you've started using more demanding software or peripherals, they can draw more power, requiring a more robust power source.
Setting Adjustments: Check your power settings to ensure they are optimized for performance. You can access this by right-clicking the Power icon and selecting “Power and sleep settings” to make adjustments.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
