HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000 (549V6AV)

The top hinge has broken away from the screen of my laptop suddenly. I noticed on the community chat pages this is a more than frequent issue.  I am just out of warrantee which is also seeming to be common.  What is being done about this issue which should perhaps be a recall?  Interestingly, my son, who had bought the same model at around the same time has the same problem when I went to ask him about this!  What should I do?  I feel as though I could repair my own if you will not assist, but since it is a widespread issue, I feel that my and my son's should be repaired at your cost and not my own.
