Hi @Chaudhary11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Let’s carefully address this touchpad issue on your HP Pavilion x360 14-dy0000 (45w97av) running Windows 11 23h2. I2C HID Device (sometimes labelled as “12c HID” by mistake — it should be I2C — for Inter-Integrated Circuit Human Interface Device).

This device controls your touchpad’s input over the I2C bus, and if its driver is missing, outdated, or incompatible with Windows 11 23H2, the touchpad can stop working or behave abnormally.

Step 1: Download the Latest Touchpad/I2C Driver

  1. Go to the official HP Drivers page: 👉 HP Pavilion x360 14-dy0000 Drivers
  2. Select Windows 11 64-bit as the OS.
  3. Look under the Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices section.
  4. Download the latest Synaptics Touchpad Driver or ELAN Touchpad Driver (depending on what’s listed for your model).
  5. Also, check under Driver – Firmware or BIOS and update those if available.

Step 2: Install the Driver

  1. Run the downloaded installer.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Restart your computer.

Step 3: Manually Update in Device Manager (if needed)

If Windows still shows “I2C HID Device” with a warning:

  1. Press Windows + XDevice Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
  3. Right-click I2C HID DeviceUpdate driver.
  4. Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
  5. Navigate to the folder where the Synaptics/ELAN driver was installed.
  6. Select it and complete the update.

Step 4: Run Windows Troubleshooter

Just to be thorough:

  1. Go to SettingsSystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters.
  2. Run the Keyboard and Bluetooth & device troubleshooters.

· Go to SettingsBluetooth & devicesTouchpad and make sure it’s enabled.

· Test multitouch gestures (2-finger scroll, tap-to-click, etc.)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
