Hi @vish0610

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're facing lag while playing videos from your S25 Ultra—especially after transferring them to your laptop.

Videos shot on high-end smartphones like the S25 Ultra often use advanced codecs (like HEVC/H.265) and high bitrates, which can challenge certain playback setups.

Let's work through a few steps to smooth out playback and get things running fluidly.

1. Confirm Video Format and Codec

  • Right-click the video file and choose Properties > Details.
  • Look for Video Codec—if it says HEVC or H.265, your system may need additional support to decode it efficiently.

Install HEVC Video Extensions:

This enables smooth playback for high-efficiency formats used by the S25 Ultra.

2. Use a Hardware-Accelerated Media Player

Some players handle high-bitrate content better than others.

Try VLC Media Player:

This offloads video processing to your GPU, reducing lag.

3. Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated drivers can cause stuttering during playback.

  • Press Windows + X, select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display Adapters, right-click your GPU, and choose Update driver > Search automatically.

Alternatively, visit your GPU manufacturer’s site (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) for the latest version.

4. Copy Files to Internal SSD Before Playing

If you’re playing directly from an external hard drive, slow read speeds can cause buffering.

  • Copy the video to your laptop’s internal SSD.
  • Play from there to ensure smooth data flow.

5. Disable Video Enhancements

Some systems apply post-processing that can interfere with playback.

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.
  • Add your media player and set it to High Performance.
  • Disable Variable Refresh Rate if available.

6. Test with HP Diagnostics

To rule out hardware limitations, run HP’s built-in diagnostics:

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly at startup, then choose F2.
  • Run Component Tests > Video Playback.

Let me know how the video responds after these adjustments. You’re doing the right thing by checking both playback and file transfer paths—this kind of attention makes troubleshooting much more effective.
