why does my hp printer not print # 10 envelopes but it will print plain paper

I'm using MicroSoft Word on my MacBook Pro  with the latest software update, the other Mac PC with software Big Sur I'm using Document Writer. The funny thing is if I put plain paper in the printer it prints out the labels but when  I put the envelopes in the tray they go through the printer and it sounds like its printing  but there is nothing on the envelope  it comes out clean.
