Hello @sani32, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP Victus laptop suddenly lost its Wi-Fi icon and only works via Ethernet, it likely means the wireless adapter is either disabled, missing, or facing a driver issue. Let’s walk through some steps to get your Wi-Fi back:

Step 1: Check if Wi-Fi Adapter is Disabled

  1. Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. In the Network Connections window, look for Wi-Fi.
    • If it’s greyed out, right-click and choose Enable.
    • If it’s missing, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Check Device Manager for Wireless Adapter

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network Adapters.
    • Look for entries like Intel Wireless, Realtek, or MediaTek Wi-Fi.
    • If you see a yellow exclamation mark or no Wi-Fi adapter at all:
      • Right-click and choose Scan for hardware changes.
      • If still missing, go to Step 3.

Step 3: Reinstall Wireless Driver

You can reinstall the Wi-Fi driver from HP’s official support page: Official HP® Support

  1. Enter your exact model number (e.g., Victus 15-fa0031dx).
  2. Download the latest Wireless LAN driver under Driver-Network.
  3. Install it and restart your laptop.

Step 4: Run HP Network Diagnostic Tool

HP offers a built-in troubleshooter:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

  1. Download and install the tool.
  2. Run Network Tests to identify and fix issues.

Step 5: BIOS Check (Optional)

Sometimes, the wireless adapter can be disabled in BIOS:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure Wireless LAN is Enabled.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
