We installed an ATA 402 to run a push-button call-box that is attached to a traffic gate. The gate has a single push-button. It is set to call our parking office if someone presses said button. This works well except that when the parking office ends the call the call-box rings them back automatically every time. Is there a timer setting, or something similar, in the config page that would eliminate the auto-calllback? The call-box runs with a Viking E30 Handsfree Speakerphone card. We have installed a few of these for the same purpose, and they all do the same thing when the parking office quits the call.

Please let me know if there is any other info that I can post that might be helpful Thank you.

Hello @JeffWVU, Welcome to the HP Poly Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Poly E30.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

The issue you're encountering where the callbox automatically calls back can be managed by configuring the ATA settings related to automatic callbacks. Based on the Poly ATA 400 Series documentation, there is a feature called Automatic Call Back (also known as Call Return), which may be enabled or configured on your device. Here’s what you can do:

Check for Automatic Call Back Settings:

  • You should check if the Automatic Call Back feature (*69) is set up on the ATA 402. This feature allows a device to call back the last caller automatically.

Disabling Call Back:

  • Review the system configuration for settings like Call Forwarding, Call Hold, and Recall settings that might be causing the callback.
  • Look specifically for settings associated with Automatic Call Back or Call Return features. If enabled, there might be an option to disable or modify this feature so that it does not automatically call back after a call ends.

Consult the Configuration Page:

  • Access the ATA 402’s web configuration page using a browser by entering the device’s IP address.
  • Navigate to the calling features section to locate Automatic Call Back settings. Disable or adjust the intervals/settings to prevent the auto-callback feature if it is enabled.

You might have to refer to the device’s user manual or configuration guide to find the exact steps and interface options, as interfaces can vary based on device firmware versions and specific customized settings.

Take care and have an amazing day!

We figured it out on our own. For anyone that finds this and wants the real answer we solved this by adjusting some settings on the ATA config page, specifically the 'timers' subsection under 'physical interfaces'. On the interface we changed the following default timers (HookFlashTimeMax, HookFlashTimeMin and CPCDelayTime):

This stopped the callback which seemed to be happening because the phone card thought the line was still open. To change back to the defaults you just have to click the default box. That will restore the ATAs default timers.

A note on the initial AI response, it was not the least bit helpful. At the very least you could proofread before posting. The E30 is the Viking phone card and the ATA model was Poly ATA 402.
