Able to change paper tray on app

When I ran out of photo paper my HP Smart app switched to normal paper. I have tried all options to change the paper and nothing is working. I can not hit the edit button to change anything. I have the envy 7100 series. Please help.

I am not familiar with the Android version of HP Smart.

A couple of ideas:

If the application is not showing anywhere at all to change the paper, not even under Print, consider:  The printer may be in charge of telling the printer what kind of paper is loaded.

Paper Setting on Printer Control Panel

NOTE:  If you had previously loaded paper - or changed the paper settings, open the tray for a couple of seconds and close it again to see the "modify" message.

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the printer control panel, Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Setting Tray and Paper Preferences in the Embedded Web Server

If the printer is on the network, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to manage and configure your printer, including setting / adjusting the Printing Preferences for the Paper.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management

If the setting won't budge, try restarting the printer (switch it off, wait two minutes, switch it back on).
