Hi! @bertlian, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues booting into your tablet and the tablet is stuck at erasing.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your tablet?

Please provide the product number of your tablet to assist you better.

Try the steps recommended below.

Use the steps in this section to reset an HP 7 Plus, HP 7.1, or HP 8 tablet.

  1. With the tablet powered off, press and hold the volume up (+) button and power button at the same time for about five seconds.

The HP logo is displayed and a few seconds later the Android system recovery menu is displayed.

  2. When the Android system recovery menu displays, use the volume down (-) button to highlight Wipe data/factory reset.

  3. Press the power button to select.

  4. The screen displays Confirm wipe of all user data? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE. Use the volume down (-) button to highlight Yes -- delete all user data.

  5. Press the power button to confirm and begin the reset.

  6. A recovery system screen shows the reset process. Wait for the reset process to complete.

  7. When the screen displays the message Data wipe complete, highlight reboot system now, and then press the power button to select.

Wait for the tablet to reboot.

  8. The factory reset is complete. Set up the tablet by following the steps in the HP support document Setting Up Your HP Tablet.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, it is a hardware issue with your PC.

Hi,

did you found a way to bring your tablet back to life from the "Erasing" thing?

Thanks,
Matteo

I've solved the problem by myself: it needs some days to complete the process. I've left the tablet connected and today the erasing process is ended!

Maybe someone will find this info useful one day, who knows.

Regards,
Matteo
