Are you seeing anything on the screen?
Have you tried rebooting it? Press and hold the power button until you see the HP logo, then release.
Is it charged completely? Are you using the supplied charger from HP?

The first time I needed to do this, it was upsetting, but now I need to do it about once a day, and it doesn't bother me.
I am so pleased with the performance of the Slate 7 that having to reboot is no more upsetting than having to start my car before I can drive away. It should be possible in the future to have an OS that doesn't go astray, though.
