Poly VSurround 85 headphones sidetone cannot be turned off. I would really appreciate if HP could do an update that would allow the user to turn off sidetone completely. Now i am forced to use these on low sidetone. I am sick to hearing my own voice, keyboard clicks and surround noise all the time!

HP chat doesnt work and they dont even have and email address for support. It would be such a simple change to Poly Lens app to allow the user to set sidetone off. It blows my mind that this is a issue in 2025...

Hello @Hellraiseri, Welcome to the HP Poly Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Poly Voyager Surround 85.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

This is to let you know that once the sidetone feature is set to low, you should not be facing such an issue. However, keyboard clicking and outside noise heard through the headset is not because of the sidetone feature.

Could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can isolate the issue?

Utilize Active Noise Canceling (ANC):

  • Make sure that you are using the Active Noise Canceling (ANC) feature effectively. ANC can help in reducing surrounding noises, thereby making the sidetone less noticeable. You can switch between different ANC modes to find the one that best suits your environment.

Use Poly Lens App:

Try Different Environments:

  • Ensure that you are using the headphones in a quieter environment whenever possible. This will naturally reduce the ambient noise picked up by the headphones.

Restore the headset settings to default:

  • Restore the headset settings to default on the Poly Lens application by connecting the headset to the PC? Once done, please switch off and switch on the headset again to save the changes made.

Softphone:

  • Ensure that only one soft phone application is opened at a time.

Your feedback about the sidetone feature is valuable and can be considered for future enhancements in the device's software. Keep an eye on updates and user forums for any changes that might address these concerns.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Yes i am using ANC, i have updated the headphones in Poly Lens app and i have reseted them. The problem is that when you have sidetone even if set to low, the headphone microphone will pick up all sounds and play them again in the headphones with low volume. I can assure you that the headphones will pick up keyboard noise and mouse clicks and putting coffee cup down etc, if they wouldn't i wouldn't be here complaining! Only way to not have this issue is for HP to let the user to disable sidetone!

What is the reason to force an user to use an option like that? Sidetone should be an feature that user can put on if they like/need it. It should not be a default setting. Could you send this information to the people that do the software updates to these headphones. Request them to make setting sidetone off possible. Programming wise its extremely easy to just make a feature set to not used.
