Hello.
Battery life is dependent on your laptop's power draw and the battery condition. Two hours sounds like you are mining bitcoins or doing something else that heavily taxes the computer - or your battery has degraded greatly.
The specification page for your laptop does not mention anything close to 12 hours. Your expectations are unrealistic.
In any case, HP has measured the 9h15min runtime on the specs page with all possible energy saving methods, dimmed screen, wireless radios off and of course the CPU idling except for the video playing part, and the video was probably selected as something optimal for the Intel GPU to decode.
Run the HP Support Assistant and click Battery on the dashboard. The battery age tells when the battery was manufactured - perhaps your laptop was on the reseller's shelf for couple of years in suboptimal conditions and it was aged badly? You can also let the Support Assistant check the battery status. if it's anything other than "Normal", you should have it replaced under warranty.
