Hello.

Recently my HP 840 G5 laptop has begun to behave weirdly.

Previously, when I left the laptop unattended for a while, with the power connected, the screen saver typically came on. When I got back after a few.  hours or even overnight to the laptop to use it, the login screen would show, I would type my password and immediately I was back to where I was, meaning all the applications (Outlook, Excel, Chrome Browser etc.) that were open would remain open.

Now days when I do the same thing, it takes about 60 seconds for the login process to compete and when the desktop shows, all my applications have been shut down. When I open the applications, it is almost like an expected restart occurred. For example, the Excel asks me to save my unsaved work, chrome says restore browser as it was unexpectedly closed, or outlook says "Outlook closed while you had items open, reopen items from your last session"?

My power options are set to balanced.  In advance power options, the sleep for on battery is 10 mins, and plugged in is set to 3 hours. Allow Hybrid Sleep is on. Hibernate on battery - 60 mins, Plugged in - never.

I have not installed any net new programs recently.

This is really strange. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you!

Hi,

Create a New Power plan and Check if it is Working or Not.

And Make some minor changes in Advance power settings

Like select 10 min Hard Disk Load Time.

Enable Sleep.

Hi, Thank you for this suggestion. I will try it and test for a few days to assess if it works.
