Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just received this new laptop. When I do a shutdown, after the screen goes blank, the keyboard backlight goes out, and the cpu fan shuts off, the battery status LED will flash an alternating white/amber sequence 12 times (about 6 secs).

This seems like it would be abnormal, and I don't remember seeing it at first.

The computer is under warranty and I've contacted HP support. But they're not familiar with the issue happening on shutdown and recommended sending the computer in. I'm hoping for a solution without having to send in.

I've tried doing the power reset (holding power + mute / power + esc), updating BIOS, resetting BIOS to factory settings, etc.

Any ideas?

HP had me send this in to the repair depot. However, after 2 months, I'm still waiting to get it back.
