Hi,

At the password screen, hit enter 3 times and may should receive a 'halt code' - if you do, post back with this code.

hi.I proglobal it a few times ,write your code three times ,enter, code appears [i 53713087].I went to the HP support sent me a code that does not fit, said it is necessary to replace the motherboard,it's not free,no matter what warranty.possible factory defects. If no suitable code with tech support, then it's a bug and not my fault .There is a sense?

Shut down the notebook.

Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out for the moment ).

Start the notebook and try entering the code:   42671009

Dear Customer,

HP 255 G3 PC is a Buisness notebook.

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the

code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

Some of these models do produce a hash, as in this case.
