I just got a 14'' Envy. I mostly use it as a desktop and likes to plug it in most of the time (because I use it at home most of the time). Is there a way to set it so it never charges to 100% in order to conserve battery life?

What's your recommendation to prolong battery life? I don't want it to be constantly charging and discharging...

Check if your computer BIOS has options for battery health management. You can enter the BIOS settings when turning on the device and pressing Esc until a boot menu is shown. F10 will then take you to settings.

The BIOS option to not fully charge the battery has typically been available on business laptops only. Envy is a consumer product, so you may be out of luck and there is no way to control the charging.

The computer does not use battery power when the computer is plugged in, but the battery does discharge slowly if the computer is off and unplugged. Li-ion batteries age faster when exposed to heat and keeping the cells at high voltage. If you cannot control the charge level, you probably have more control over the work environment and laptop cooling.

If you fully deplete the battery, the laptop and power supply will probably use a fast charge mechanism which ups the charge to certain % in short time and from there will top the battery to 100% in slower speed. Fast Charge can be more detrimental to the battery life than slow charging.
