Bios Pass Reset

HP Recommended
HP EliteBook 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need to reset my bios password. Been searching the Internet for a solution. I read on a forum that I have to send the laptop's UUID and S/N to HP Support Email for a new ```SMC.bin``` file but all attempts to reach out  have failed. Below the machines UUID && S/N;

UUID: DDDD7A7F-7C34-11E3-B3FB-618FE803C0FF

Thank you.

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Just to note:

Do not try removing the RTC battery.  It will not remove the password, but it will reset the clock - as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC will cause it to fail.
