Elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After going to the Command Prompt and typing CHKDSK C: /r and pressing the Enter key I was asked, Do you want CHKDSK to run next time you boot? I entered y then rebooted and CHKDSK did not run.

Next I loaded Registry Editor and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Session Manager. There I found BootExecute.exe.  The data shown was autocheck autochk/r\??\C:autcheck autochk *. I changed the data to autocheck autochk * and rebooted.

Windows loaded and I looked to see if BootExecute’s data had been changed and it had not.  Next I went to the Command Prompt and entered CHKDSK C: /r, pressed Enter, entered y and rebooted; CHKDSK did not run. I loaded Registry Editor and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Session Manager. I found BootExecute.exe and the data was back to autocheck autochk/r\??\C:autcheck autochk *.

What could be causing this BootExecute phenomena to happen?
