Can I use Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2666MHz Laptop RAM on my hp9470m laptop and will I get better performance..I have a ddr3 4 GBP ram installed and I am thinking of installing 8gb ddr4 total will be 12 gb ram for my core i5 5 gen laptop ..should I upgrade??

Hi,
The notebook supports max 16GB of DDR3L-1600MHz RAM (2x8GB)
You can not insert DDR4 RAM as it is different in size and would not be recognized.
Yes I would upgrade to at least 8GB or more which will give a performance boost.
Example of RAM:

Another upgrade you should perform if your system has a regular Hard Drive, would be to replace it with an SSD.
