Probook 650 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I like the Probook 650 G4 except for the clickpad.  It's horrible.  When I left-click sometimes the mouse moves while clicking and ends up clicking something else.  I'd much rather have buttons instead of this.  Is there a way to replace the clickpad with a standard touchpad with two buttons at the bottom.  A smaller touchpad with two buttons would be great.

Hello JP,

HP Probook 650 G4 cannot be customized after purchase, since Mother Board has been designed with Generic Clickpad.

I would suggest to use extenal mouse on your comfort.

Hi Ruben, just looking at the service manual (pages 59-64) I don't see how the mother board has anything to do with the clickpad (they use the word TouchPad in the manual but technically this is a ClickPad).  Also purchasing a 650 G4 without a clickpad doesn't appear to be an option.  The only options appear to be:

TouchPad module for use in models with a pointing stick - L09604-001

TouchPad module for use in models with a pointing stick (includes NFC antenna) L09605-001

TouchPad module for use in models without a pointing stick L23124-001

TouchPad module for use in models without a pointing stick (includes NFC antenna) L23125-001

The System Board options have nothing to do with the touchpad (see service manual pages 72-75):

All system boards use the following part numbers:

xxxxxx-001: Non-Windows operating systems

xxxxxx-601: Windows operating system

System board for use in models with discrete graphics memory:

● Intel Core i7-8650U processor L24846-xx1

● Intel Core i5-8350U processor L09606-xx1

System board for use in models with UMA graphics memory:

● Intel Core i7-8850H processor, models with WWAN modules L24854-xx1

● Intel Core i7-8650U processor, models with WWAN modules L24853-xx1

● Intel Core i5-8550U processor, models with fWWAN modules L24852-xx1

● Intel Core i5-8350U processor, models with WWAN modules L24851-xx1

● Intel Core i5-8250U processor, models with WWAN modules L24850-xx1

● Intel Core i5-8250U processor L24849-xx1

● Intel Core i3-8130U processor L27307-xx1

● Intel Core i5-7300U processor, models with WWAN modules L24848-xx1

● Intel Core i5-7200U processor, models with WWAN modules L24847-xx1

Is there possibly an aftermarket replacement touchpad, which has actual buttons as opposed to the clickpad, which could replace mine?  The part # for mine is L09605-001.

Thank you
