Zbook 14u G6 Mobile Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a WAVLINK thunderbolt docking station with power button to be used by my zbook 14u G6 mobile workstation. I tried to power on/boot my laptop from the docking station but it didn't power up. Instead, i had to open my laptop and press the power button. Is powering up from a non-HP docking station supported by my laptop?

I like the idea of not opening my laptop and just use the docking station to power it on. Any advise?

Hi @harshhbrown

HP does not officially support 3rd party docking stations for any PC.

For this Zbook 14u G6 officially supported are these :

  • HP USB-C Universal Dock 1MK33AA
  • HP USB-C Mini Dock 1PM64AA
  • HP Thunderbolt Dock Audio3AQ21AA
  • HP USB-C Dock G4 3FF69AA#xxx
  • HP TB Docks 120W G2 w/Audio 3YE87AA#xxx
  • HP Travel Hub T0K30AA
  • HP 3005pr USB 3.0 Port Replicator w/ USB-C™ Adapter Y4H06AA

Therefore, if you use any other, not all functions may work properly - HP never designed the products with 3rd party docking stations in mind and never tested with them.
