EliteBook 840 G5 UltraSlim dock external keyboard and mouse stop responding

I have my laptop connected to an UltraSlim Dock with a wireless Microsoft Comfort Keyboard and Mouse 5050.  All the latest drivers are installed per the Microsoft Mose and Keyboard 11.1.  The keyboard and mouse work perfectly for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.  The suddenly both the keyboard and mouse stop responding.  Cursor will not move with the mouse.  The laptop touchpad and keyboard work and moves the cursor and scrolls the screen content but the browser is only partially responsive.  If I scroll up with the laptop arrow or page up keys the screen immediately returns to the bottom when the keys are released. 


If I undock and redock the laptop the issue goes away.


Has anyone else seen similar lockups with input devices attached through the docking station?
