This model is supposed to be able to charge via the type c port. It even has a power symbol next to the port. I'm using a wall plug and cable that charge other laptops so I know it's nothing wrong with them.

Is there something I need to do to enable charging via the type c port?

Is it compatible with your 840 G5 ?

Why wouldn't it be? It's a 60 watt wall charger and a very high quality Type C PD cable capable of 100 watts. It charges macbooks and other laptops easily.

Numerous reviews/articles even say this charges their HP laptops fine.

And I don't think the port is damaged because I could charge my phone using the same cable on the same port. So it can charge out but not charge in. There must be some setting to enable/disable it or something.
