EliteBook 8470p Power On/BIOS password help

HP Recommended
Elitebook 8470p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Hello, recently bought a used EliteBook 8470p only to find that the system will not fully boot up without a password. After the HP logo splash screen, it prompts me for a password. Of course I don't have it. I have read elsewhere that a .bin file can be generated to reset this- what can be done?

I appreciate any help.

BIOS rev. 68lCF ver. F.31, 9/24/2012 (if it matters)

@Bendukellis,

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

  1. Please have a look at this link.

  1. Replace the BIOS chip

  1. Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
