Hello,
I have an internal hard drive failure ID. My laptop is out of warranty.
The memory quick check failed
The failure ID is: U0c1aj-9jqbru-mfgk6k-40b803
Memory Mdule 1: Bottom slot 1 (left)
Is this a fatal error - meaning I should take action now rather than just living with it?
What are my options?
Can I replace the hard disk myself? How to do this?
Will it cost me more to repair than to replace?
Thanks for your help and advice!

Hi, Nuticel:
One of the memory chips in the notebook has failed and needs to be replaced.
If your notebook has more than one chip, you can remove the defective on in slot 1 and run the notebook off the good chip until you can replace the failed one.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure (chapter 5, starting on page 44).
I don't know how much memory your notebook came with, but this would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip replacement.
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com
If you can buy on Amazon.it, you can get this part there.
Crucial RAM CT8G4SFS824A 8GB DDR4 2400MHz CL17 Memoria Laptop : Amazon.it: Informatica

Thanks. I've just installed the replacement 8GB memory card and everything seems to be back to normal now.
There is still a memory card slot free. How can I upgrade my laptop to 16GB? Is it as simple as buying an additonal 8GB memory and putting it in the free slot? Or is there a more complicated process?

You're very welcome.
To upgrade the memory to 16 GB, just order another one of those memory chips from the link I posted and install it in the empty slot, and your notebook will have 16 GB of memory.
Simple as that.
