OK makes sense. Its actually a SATA M.2 SSD and the 256 was just the largest HP offered at the time. SSDs were much more expensive when that laptop was built so capacities tended to be smaller. So you can install as large a SATA M.2 SSD as you can buy...so a 500 GB or 1 TB would be no problem.
