Hello @AjzakBaraba,

May I know what exact model of USB-C charger you are using? Or maybe its output wattage?

Kind regards,

Eddy

Hello @AjzakBaraba,

Unfortunately, attempts to charge a laptop with a mobile device charger rated at max 22.5W will most likely be futile.

The two USB-C chargers HP has recommended for this device are:

65 W, wall mount, 3 pin, USB-C 860209-850

45 W, wall mount, 3 pin, USB-C 860210-850

You need a much more powerful charger to properly power the device.

FYI, you might be able to charge the laptop slowly if you plug in the Huawei Mate 9 charger when the laptop is shut down.

Hope this helps,

Eddy

Dear  EddyK, thank you for reply.

As I can see, there is no "normal" way to charge the notebook over type C port then buying recommended charger from HP? Is there any power bank that can charge the notebook?

HP Recommended

HP sells a 60W output USB-C power bank - the Spectre USB-C Power Pack. Officially this is an accessory for the Spectre models that charge over USB-C, but I cannot see any reason why it will not work with other HP notebooks that charge over USB-C.

Confirmed laptop will charge when powered off with a Huawei Mate 20 Pro supplied charger.

Input: 100-240v ~50/60Hz @ 1.2A
Output: 5V @ 2A or 9V @ 2A or 10V @ 4A max (40w)

When the device is powered on, it will not charge and the battery will drain. I can't yet tell if it's discharging slower than normal with the abovementioned USB-C charger plugged in or not, though I suspect it's not charging at all whilst in use as it drops inline with what I would expect from normal usage.

I think it is worth a try,   maybe there is something in the settings of the BIOS

I am using a DELL docking station and get the same , nothing when powered on , charging when powered off .

does anyone know how many whatts / amps are sufficient for the 5G ?

Hello  Eddy ,

I have used the charger in the reversed situation .

Used my Elitebook 840 G5 USB type-C charger to charge my Huawei P20 mate Pro phone .

Might this event prove to be harmefull to my phone battery ?  Will it do any harm to charme my phone with my laptop charger.

Thanks.

Stefan

Nah, it won't harm it. The phone won't accept a higher charge rate than it's rated for.
