HP Elitebook 840 G8

Has anyone else been having USB-C charging / functioning issues with the EliteBooks / USB-C docks over the past few weeks?  Out of our group of about 60 EliteBooks, we've had a dozen over the past few weeks with varying USB-C / Dock issues. The symptoms vary, but most commonly the docks aren't charging the laptops. Some of the symptoms are:

- Dock won't charge laptop (most common)

- Misc. devices plugged into the dock won't work

   - Keyboard, mouse, monitor

- One computer an external drive plugged into one USB-C port would work, but wouldn't work in the other USB-C port

The issues have been happening with HP USB-C docks (g5 model) and third-party Dell USB-C docks.

We've run all Windows and BIOS updates, SFC, etc.  We've tried power resetting the docks (unplug, hold button for 10 seconds, etc.). For most of these issues, doing the 'hardware reset' (not really sure what it does) on the laptop of unplugging all cords, holding the power button in for at least 30 seconds, letting it power back up, has been working. It even fixed all those odd USB-C issues mentioned above on the one laptop ... both ports worked with everything after that, however, after a few days, no charging again.

Does anyone know exactly why this is happening as of the last few weeks, and what a correct / permanent fix would be?

I'm assuming it has something to do with some kind of HP or Windows updates, as this has now affected over a dozen of our HP laptops just starting as of a few weeks ago.

Thanks.
