Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the hotkeys to turn Privacy Screen on, but nothing happens. I can't find any settings for it either. I do have the Privacy Screen icon in the f2 button, and specifically ordered a laptop with this feature.

Anybody have an idea where the settings for this are? Or what could be wrong?

Thank you!

Please use the following key combinations to adjust the HP Sure View privacy screen settings:

  • fn+f2: Turns on the privacy screen.
  • fn+f5 or fn+f6: Adjusts the privacy screen for well-lit or darker environments.
  • fn+f2: Turns off the privacy screen.
  • fn+p: Turns on HP Sure View with the highest privacy setting.

Hello @Banhien,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Those are the exact commands I have tried several times. I've also gone through the support page but could not find help. So if you have any further suggestions, I'd be very grateful!

Does pressing the f2 button change the brightness level? Several users have encoutered an issue with the privacy screen on G6 elitebook laptops (735, 745, 840), where the brightness is lowered but the viewing angle remains the same (narrow). Perhaps this issue is also present on your elitebook x360 1040 G6?

See these posts for more information on our problem. HP has not responed yet though..

Hello @Siebed,

thank you so much for your answer and the useful links!

I was going crazy trying to figure out what the issue is, but it is just as you described:

F2 does change the brightness (=turns Privacy Screen on and off), but the viewing angle stays very narrow regardless.

I have contacted the dealer I bought the laptop from. Let's see what they say.

Happy to hear I could help. So it seems that probably all G6 Elitebooks suffer from this problem.
Please keep us updated if you'd find a solution 🤞
