Estimate battery remaining time... misisng

HP Recommended
Probook 470 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In other laptops, if I hover over the battery icon it gives me an estimate of how much time I have left.

I can't see this in this laptop.

I googled it and people said try looking in 'system configuration' in the BIOS. I have explored my BIOS with no  mention of battery remaining times or system config

  1. Go to Device Manager.
  2. Click on Batteries.
  3. Right Click on AC Adapter and ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
  4. Click on Disable Device.
  5. Perform Steps 1-3.

Hi Suvadeep,

Thank you for your response.

It did not work, unfortunately.

A telephone tech support employee said I cannot find the battery remaining time option in the BIOS as I am using the latest version of windows. She said I need to wait for Microsoft to release another version. This seems like strange advice. Why would Microsoft remove this important feature?

I don't understand this reasoning. Why would Microsoft remove this from the bios?

Hi,

I would suggest you to check the issue in a new user account. Please create a new user account to understand if the issue is account specific or not.

You may also try to update/over-write the BIOS. Please help me with the unit Serial Number so that I can provide you the link to download the latest BIOS.

Thank you,

Suvadeep Dutta

Hi Suvadeep,

I tried a new user account. Same problem.

[personal information removed]

I tried updating my BIOS using your website's drivers for my model in the first instance. Please send me the link and I will try again.

Thanks.

Hi,

Since you have updated BIOS recently, I would not suggest you to redo it again.

Could you please tell me

  • When did this issue began?
  • Do you see the battery icon on the System Tray?
  • Do you see notifications for the other System Tray icons?

Thank you,

Suvadeep Dutta

I bought the laptop last week. Had this problem from the start.

I do see the battery icon. It only displays %.

I see other icons in the system tray.
