Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Same issue as in this thread (inexplicably locked when last reply was only 2 weeks ago):

Brand new G5 USB C dock into 2018 MacBook Pro by USB C. USB keyboard and mouse do not wake laptop from sleep. When the laptop is awakened with its own keyboard, the dock does not awake its monitors or accessories. External hard drive connected through the dock is unmounted during sleep, interrupting applications and potentially corrupting data.

 

As others have reported, only unplugging and plugging in the USB C cable restores the connection. The button on the lid appears to do nothing.

 

This combination of laptop and monitor ran perfectly through a HP Thunderbolt G2 dock.

 

Has anybody solved this problem?

This highly annoying problem still persists with 2019 MBP on Big Sur ....
