My laptop locks up often and I have to do a hard reset/Boot. I have run all of the HP diagnostics and all have passed. Always happens while not in use and when idling but on.
Need suggestions?
Thanks

Hello.
Have you had this problems forever or did something change to cause this problem?
The "when idling" suggests that when your laptop enters a power saving mode it locks up. Can you verify this by manually entering sleep mode in Windows?
If sleep mode is the problem, the culprit could be any driver or running software that doesn't work properly, and can be tedious to troubleshoot. Update drivers and BIOS + firmware from HP support site. If that does not help, try disabling all non-Microsoft services and programs in Windows startup.
Check the System log in Windows Event Log after a reset for clues. Any warning/error message at the moment of lock up may indicate the device or driver that causes the problem.
For further diagnostics I would recommend temporarily replacing the hard drive with another one and to observe whether a new Windows install will work. This would rule out hardware problems that the diagnostics do not show. If a new Windows install works fine, a reinstall may be the easiest option.
