Elitebook 820 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good Morning,
I have a 2nd hand 820 G3, it is still under warranty, but came with bios password.
I wanted to update my bios ( I am having some problems and would like to see if it helps), but I can't. As mentioned here, I should phone HP and they would email me a file. They said they could only do it with the proof of purchase, is that true?
I ended up opening a case to solve my problem (from time to time my monitor won't work), and ask if by the time of the service they could update the bios and maintain the password (I don't really care to have bios acess, just wanted it to be updated) and they said it was impossible.
Any other solution?

Hello @skinnie88

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

For security reasons HP require you have any sort of purchase proof because literally anybody can steal the PC and then reach to support asking for the SMC.bin file, therefore finding a relatively easy way to bypass security and access sensitive parts.

Don't you have any sort of document or proof how you obtained the second hand PC ?
